I survived the SNOWSTORM of 2016.
ACCORDING to WEATHER 2000 FORECAST REACH, 26.8 inches of snow dumped on NEW YORK CITY friday-saturday NIGHT.
ironically, IT was only .1 inch LESS than the LEGENDARY snowstorm of 2006.
I slept on the FLOOR of a VAN that year OMW to NYC to PLAY a gig AT pianos — LES.
MONDAY // SOME very CONVENTIONAL things went down.
i STARTED a new PIANO client, my neck HAD a PROPER pop at the chiropractor, piano LESSON went well [with young FOUR year OLD marcus], AND i ate SUSHI [NO drama] an all AROUND profitable WORK DAY as a FREELANCER.
bill, GOOD ole ROOMMATE, is asking that I stick around AS long AS i WANT.
THINGS have been NORMAL as of RECENT.
the OPENING up of OUR feelings about the SITUATION during OUR tv SHOW interview really CLEARED some things UP.
THE tv SHOW is STILL DELAYED. THE “talent” couldn’t MAKE it.
sounds SUS already, AND i’ll be SURE to be FIRM on FOLLOWUP.
it’S incredible to ME that we HAD the PRODUCER of a TV show come TO our APARTMENT.
I talked to MY mom on the PHONE about IT yesterday AND she commented, “people I MEET from NEW YORK say you’re either IN IT, or NOT.”
BIG CITY truths COMING from a BORN and RAISED MIDWESTERNER.
when SOMEONE asks me ADVICE on HOW to get JOBS in NYC I always ASK, “WHERE do you GO out and how DO you MEET people?”
in A twisted SORT of WAY, my LIVING situation is BENEFICIAL for ME; I’m SELDOM home, therefore I GO out A LOT.
AND Fear Not PENNY pinchers, the AMOUNT of HAPPY HOUR and Free DRINK/FOOD parties in THE CITY is STAGGERING!
I thought about THIS today, MY journey over the PAST year and a HALF has BEEN made possible by NETWORKING my FACE off.
CMJ PARTY lead to STUDIO jobs, SAME party I met my BMG partner, DJING at KEYBAR got me my RAVAL DJ GIG, BITTER END OPEN MIC I met my FIRST CLIENT/PRODUCTION PARTNER, BUY one GET one FREE @ KEYBAR I met the EVENT PLANNER at HAVEN ROOFTOP/DJ GIG, I went to AN OPEN HOUSE to get MY first REAL ESTATE JOB, MET great RECORDING CLIENTS just HANGING at SMASH STUDIO, PARTIES at FLAVORLAB = WEIRD TV AUDITIONS, ETC ETC
a LOT of these gigs COME from BEING at the RIGHT place at THE right TIME. SINCE it’s a NUMBERS game, I up’d my ODD’s by moving to THE CITY.
it WAS commented to ME by my FRIEND ANTHONY at my LAST Keybar GIG that, “BRO, this is WHAT we do FOR a LIVING. WE honestly HAVE the BEST job in THE WORLD!” [ANT is also a PRODUCER/ENGINEER]
the JOB is UNSTABLE, hard as HELL, LONG hours, ODD hours, INVOLVES musician DRAMA, technical ISSUES, MAKING it up as you GO along, fighting to be on TOP, working for FREE, SACRIFICE, BRAVERY, and PERSEVERANCE. OH and if it SOUNDS bad, IT’s YOUR FAULT!
yet, WE do it and LOVE every minute of IT.
and IT is, THE BEST JOB in the WORLD.
i WAS in TODAY with a TEAM of young TALENTED artists that ARE on TOP of their GAME.
// when YOU risk it ALL, you CAN’T have ANY REGRETs //
