There are 22 more days left in August. New York lease starts Sept 1.
The move is becoming more apparent with each trip to the goodwill and every craigslist sale.
Emotionally it is hard.
I have a filled binder with thank you cards, pictures, drawings from students, and gifts. (Pictured Above)
We’ve had going away parties almost every weekend.
A lot of people saying last goodbyes.
People I won’t see again until after I’m moved and settled.
No goodbye has been easy, and no one is going to be.
To some, moving is no big deal.
Anyone following my blog that doesn’t know me personally, I’ve had a career as a piano teacher/performer/producer/etc. for seven and a half years now in Michigan.
Most of my life has been spent in various areas of Detroit.
In the seven years I’ve taught music I am proud to have been called “a positive role model” on more than one occasion.
Everyone needs to have their inner drive, but sometimes it gets too hard to rely on drive alone.
Sometimes you need that extra boost from someone else telling you you can make it.
You can do it.
I’ve always been there for my students, have always been their cheerleader.
Their graciousness towards me has only further fueled a fire in me to go out and rock the new opportunities.
The catch-22 is I enjoy being their role models, but I can’t be there for them anymore.
Boxes are going into storage, cloths are being packed, details are moving forward.
Just a few more performances this month and hopefully more goodbye parties.
